Pacific @ Plush 04/06/16

Posted on by Simon

Jon brought his Pacific team to Dorset for another tour – this time playing the Wanderers on both days.  Mike Henry guested for Pacific on the Saturday by virtue of him turning up late!

Mark was incredibly unlucky not to get a wicket with a couple of edges passing Bob in the slips at high velocity!  Will Shardlow was causing problems with inswinging yorkers and the occasional ball seaming away.  He accounted for both openers bowled and could be proud of his analysis of 10-2-44-3.  Jon and the Pacific captain Toby started to accumulate runs and get the partnership underway.  Chances were rare but a superb piece of fielding from Will throwing to Simon would have seen the third umpire called into question for a run-out chance!  No matter what the Wanderers did, Jon managed to get it to the boundary.  He was in superb form and fully deserved his 148 not out (one day he might do it for the Wanderers!).  224-3 was a huge total.

After tea supplied by Simon’s mum assisted by Sarah, Roshan and Mike Tomms opened the innings.  Mike Moore (22) replaced Mike Tomms and, although there were the occasional big shots, a huge number of runs were declined by the lack of calling and running.  Roshan was playing well until he was head up and bowled on a creditable 36.  Simon was stumped going down the wicket and Will holed out for 14 and with that all hope of victory was lost.  However, being a time game, the contest was still on.  Alec (7) and Paul (5) put on a fine display of defensive duties assisted by Bob (19no) and David (5) who was bowled by a full toss in the last over.  Mark handled the pressure well and saw out the remaining deliveries for the draw.

MOM: Will

Catch of the day: none taken!
