Compton House 09/07/19

Posted on by Simon

On a bright evening at Compton, some selection issues for the Wanderers meant some players from Compton joining the visitors for the evening.  Ali turned up with his finger in a splint and Big Dog had to work late.  Mark took 1-21 in his 4 overs which was a commendable display.  David and Simon T struggled to contain the attacking intent of the hosts but the left arm over from the on-loan Stuart was proving difficult to cope with.  Omar (on debut) was responsible for a brilliant run out with a direct hit from 25 yards.  He also bowled some great deliveries in his spell of 1-18 from 3.  Paul took a good catch at point and bowled a couple of tidy overs at the end to restrict the total to 141 for 7.

The opening bat on-loan from Compton hit 30 retired in no time at all!  Mike M was run out (or more accurately walk out) for 8 when going back to the non-danger end for a second, the ball was thrown to the keeper who threw to the bowler’s end with a direct hit!  Simon (15) was looking in good nick until he was undone by a yorker.  Hasan was LBW for no score before Simon T injected some pace with a quick 18 before he was caught.  Paul played some nice shots in his 15 and David (8) was run out at the end.  DWCC lost by 21 runs.

MOM: Mark

Catch of the day: Paul (It was good despite being the only one!)
