BSA 07/09/25

For the second game of the double-header weekend, some aching bodies reconvened at Dorchester Cricket Club for the fixture against BSA. We were reinforced by some younger blood in Jono Ramsey and Leo Hunt. BSA won the toss and inserted Wanderers. David (30) opened and was in the unprecedented position of scoring 20 out of the first 21 runs! Ben and Garry fell cheaply, but the innings was built around an excellent 47 from Brett Custard before he fell LBW. Further contributions from Tommy Weld (27) and Leo (17) eventually saw Wanderers to 162 all out just short of their 35 overs.

We had endured an hour long delay or so for heavy rain, but were fortunate that the covers could be on the wicket itself.

As BSA looked to chase down our total, once again, The Fizz set the tone with a beautiful spell of bowling from the graveyard end (seven overs, two maidens, three for 17). BSA never really recovered from The Foz’s early wickets, and Jono Ramsey’s intervention (two overs, one maiden, two wickets for one run) really ended the match as a contest. There were some youngsters in the BSA lower order and eventually we fell to wheeling through the final overs in the cold and cloud as quickly as we could in order to get the delayed match finished. BSA finished on 141 for eight from their 35 overs to give Wanderers their second win of the weekend, by 21 runs.

Man of the Match: Pete Fosbury, a second brilliant spell for the weekend

Catcher of the Day: Garry with two absolute stunners at 2nd slip

Result: Wanderers win by 21 runs
