Lobsters @ Cranborne 07/05/17

Posted on by Simon

The entire team met at the newly opened community owned Drovers Inn at Gussage All Saints.  Following some ales and a short journey to Cranborne, the Wanderers lost the toss and found themselves fielding on the opening day.  Mark bowled well for his 2-36 and was joined in the opening attack by Luke who was making his debut.  A scratchy first few overs was followed by some tidy deliveries.  A run rate approaching 5 an over was pegged back by David who instantly found a great line and length.  It was Ravi who claimed the crucial wicket of Hugh; with the ball skied towards extra-cover, Pete got underneath it and took the catch with nonchelant ease. Ravi took an excellent c&b to remove the other in-form batsman and his 2-31 was highly commendable.  Pete came on towards the end of the innings and took the last wicket (1-6) but the star of the show was David with his 4-22.  This makes his 2 year annalysis at Cranborne 10-43!

Following tea in the sunshine Peter H opened the batting with Mike M.  Mike didn’t last long before being bowled but this brought Peter and Ravi together.  The pair batted well forcing the run rate and creating a great platform for the team with a partnership of 71.  Neither looked likely to concede their wicket until Peter (32) mis-read a quick delivery that seamed off the green surface.  Mike T went in the next over which brought Simon to the crease.  Simon (19no) started like he left off last season hitting 4-2-4-6 in the first 7 deliveries.  Ravi (65) was also in attacking momentum until he was caught with just 4 required for victory.  Mike Henry came in and hit the winning runs for a 6 wicket victory.

MOM: David

Catch of the day: Peter
