Simon won the toss and the Wanderers had a bat. David and Andy Thompson fell early on, but then the middle order engine room of Garry Clulee (20), Skipper (21) and Bretty Custard (66) took the score on nicely. Ben Rayner batted unbeaten for 43 and with help from Foz and the lower order, Wanderers were dismissed in the final over for 178, with opening bowler D England being the pick of the bowlers with four for 22.

After tea , Cerne set off in pursuit of our total. They lost their openers early to the perennial Max Goode and The Fizz Fosbury , but then there was a fine stand between Beresford and Cartwright, which took Cerne Valley much of the way towards their target. The Cerne batters ignored some gentle sledging until Brett and PW dismissed the set batters and David chipped in with the wicket of number five Beresford, but Cerne were able to overhaul Dorset’s total with nearly 5 overs to spare.

Man of the match: Brett, 66 runs and 1/29 Result: Cerne Valley win by 5 wickets
